St. Helen's Church, Cliffe

Coming to church for the first time?

Vistors are always welcome and we'd love to meet you and introduce ourselves.

If you've never been to church before, here are a few things you might like to know.

What should I wear?

Whatever you are comfortable in. Some people like to come in shorts and a t-shirt, others wear their 'Sunday best'. It's entirely up to you, God doesn't mind what you wear when you worship him.

Do I need to be invited?

No, just come along. You might want to arrive a few minutes early to settle into your seat before we start, but even if you're late, we'll give you a warm welcome.

Do I need to bring money?

No, it's free to come along and you can join us afterwards for a cup of tea as well (which is free). Our regular members contribute financially during the service in the offertory, but we never ask for money from our visitors.

How long does the service last?

The 8am Communons take about 45 minutes. Our 10am services last about an hour. Refreshments are served after the 10am service and you would be most welcome to join us.

Are children welcome?

Yes! Children are welcome to come along. Children are very good at picking up the ebb and flow of a church service over time and will naturally start to join in with parts that they understand. We are aiming to increasingly make our services accessible for children whilst still meeting the needs of adults.

And babies?

Absolutely! You are welcome to breastfeed/bottlefeed anywhere in the church at any time during our services. God loves babies as much as anyone else!
